Barkin Dog Duathlon April 10 2021 Cherry Creek State Park
I was super excited when I found out that Colorado is holding triathlon events again. It has been a struggle to hold triathlon events during COVID because of the transition areas and the difficulty of maintaining 6 feet distance and keeping masks on. Barkin' Dog Duathlon has been doing this race since 1999 to help triathletes prepare for the season. It is a 5k run, 20 mile bike, and 5k run. We obviously cannot swim in the reservoirs yet because it is too cold. We can start doing that in June. This event organization is the same one that puts on The Yeti Chase and they run things so well. My goal for 2021 was to bike and swim more because running is starting to take it's toll on my body. Registering for this race forced me to bike a lot more. I was very rusty with all of the preparation for a multi sport race. I forgot my energy gels and my ID, which wasn't a huge deal.
