Harriet Patter and the Broom Closet of Wonder starring Connor and Camilla

Image
Connor and Camilla decided that they wanted to be in a play this summer. Carly decided she was going to sit this one out because she didn't want to spend her summer memorizing lines. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVUo5-5GRMg They were excited to go to every practice. Connor got the part of Don Woosley and Camilla got the part of Harriet Patter. Both of these parts required them to memorize a lot of lines. They had all of the lines memorized after a few weeks and they had so much fun rehearsing with their wands. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HocX4eLNAkA Camilla really showed some attitude in her parts. Connor was very serious and didn't miss a single line. The End: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J00G8YK32N0 Connor's got recognized for his seriousness and calm attitude. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njKmJZvCZeU Camilla's got recognized for her ability to accept criticism and improve. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKIH9EuyTsM

Jackson Lake Camping

The kids were super excited about the campsite that I had picked out. I had looked at all the sites last summer and had found this one to be the best. It was a hike-in site and was completely surrounded by trees. We felt like we were in a little den. The kids pretended that they had hide outs and climbed the trees. I quickly realized that I had no cell service, which gave me some stress relief from getting emails and messages. I was able to just enjoy the wilderness experience with my kiddos. Lola woke up barking in the night. I told her to be quiet and went back to sleep. When I woke up in the morning, I noticed that a fox had taken our bread, veggie chips, beef jerky, and dog food. The fox actually took the top off of the tub. Very smart, "Fantastic Mr. Fox". Lola was obviously barking to notify us. I figure out that I could put heavy objects over our food and that kept the fox away. The pelicans were beautiful to watch every morning. A new family arrived with a 12 ...

Colorado Rockies 5k Pregame Recognition

I received a letter from Colorado Rockies that they wanted to honor me for my 2 nd place finish at a game on June 1 st at Coors Field. The kids and I already had tickets for this game so I was able to get my Dad, brother, brother's girlfriend, and niece into the game for free. We didn't know what to expect and were surprised to find out that they allowed all 3 of my kids and my Dad into the backstage area and onto the field with me. They even gave us all a Rockies shirt and some refreshments. We went out onto the field and got to meet "Digger" and a Pro player. I didn't realize how tall the baseball players were! The kids kept giving me lots of hugs and saying, "Thank you Mom". Then, they told me to line up with the other winners and they put a camera in my face and announced that I won 2 nd place. The lady next to me told me that she does this race every year so she can win and get her family free tickets to a game. I told her that I think I wil...

Summer Splash Prairie Dog Half Marathon

Image
I signed up for this race because it is in Castle Rock and Girls on the Run paid for me to run it. The trail is very hilly and not fast. I started out running with another girl but she quickly ran ahead. I ran much faster on the 2nd half of the race but never caught up to the 1st place girl. There was a lot of cheering and very happy runners. I did pass a couple of men, though, which is the best feeling. They have a term for this, "Chicked". I chicked a bunch of male runners. I finished in 1:36:42, which is a full minute faster than I ran last year. I was 2nd overall female out of 160 female runners. The 3rd place girl was a full 9 minutes behind me. I was greeted by Lloyd, Connor, and Carly at the finish and they took me to breakfast. Carly immediately wanted me to take her swimming and we had a fun afternoon together.

Camping at Lake Pueblo State Park

The girls woke up at 6am, ready to go camping. We couldn't check into our campsite until noon. I took them to the park to make the time go by faster. We arrived shortly after 12 and I started setting up the tents. The tent that I had just bought for myself didn't come with the windshield, so I had to make due with a tarp. Ugh! It did end up raining and the tarp did the trick. It was super hot and lizards were crawling over Lola's back. The kids were most excited to roast marshmallows. Lloyd bought us watermelon flavored marshmallows and they were delicious. Carly kept walking around shoeless and ended up stepping on a hot marshmallow stick. She cried bloody murder and thankfully I had a first aid kit and first aid training since it was a second degree burn. I kept cold water running over it and wrapped it and gave her pain reliever. She fell asleep and I prayed that this wasn't going to ruin our trip. Carly woke up the next morning saying that her toe was fine ...
