Jackson Lake State Park

Image
This is the 3rd time we have camped at this place. The kids always ask me to take them back. The first thing Lola did was go crazy running in the sand. She loves the sand! https://youtu.be/kgZwwr1lEtI Connor did tricks with is bike https://youtu.be/5s5A-gf3spQ This time, we almost didn't go. The kids were still tired from Leadville and they weren't sure they wanted to go. They decided they wanted to go the morning we were scheduled to leave. The campground, overall is not great. Kinda ugly sights with lots of partiers. But, I found a cool backcountry sight that is situated among very shady tees. It is only 400 yards from the car and a little further from bathrooms. I could hang multiple hammocks in the site. Camilla is my interior designer. She decides where to put tents, chairs, and hammocks. It was insanely hot when we got there and I was putting up tents. 98 degrees. Thank goddess for shade and water. You can jump in that cold water from our site....

Mount Elbert 14er and Molly Brown Campground

Image
We arrived to Molly Brown Campground before 2pm. The kids thought the drive was super short. Our site was very roomy and allowed us to set up 3 tents: 1 for me and Lola, 1 for the girls, and 1 for Connor. There were tall pine trees everywhere and turquoise lake was just a short walk away. The kids just ran free and explored. Carly made her own little potty in the trees. Every campsite was full and stayed that way until we left. We went to bed very early and I woke at 4:40am to make oatmeal and coffee. I dragged the kids out of their tents in their pjs. I had all of their clothes and hydration packs in the car so they could dress while I drove. It was a 30 minute drive to Emerald Lake, where the trailhead to Mount Elbert was. I explained to them that I do not want to hear complaining. We are all gonna hurt. Please don't tell me that your feet hurt. Just tell me if something is really wrong, if you get dizzy or a headache. We started hiking and it was a steep uphill that never st...

Mountain High Swim League Championships

Carly did amazing in the IM relay gaining time for her team. She, unfortunately got disqualified in breaststroke. Connor did his fastest backstroke ever in 1.02.56. His time at prelims was 1.16..26.

Prelims

Connor and Camilla's prelims were first on July 10th, just a day after we got back from camping. Grandma came to watch them. Camilla's times were slower than normal. I think this is because she was tired from camping. She swam freestyle, backstroke, and butterfly. She has only competed in butterfly, one other time. Camilla Freestyle 58th place time: 1.19.98 (previous time 1.00.91) Camilla Butterfly (disqualified) Camilla Backstroke 24th place time: 1.07.71 (previous time 1.04.62) They need to be in 16th place or faster, to qualify for Championships. Connor was faster in every stroke, except backstroke. Unfortunately, he would have qualified for Championships, if he had te same time as before, or faster in backstroke. Connor Backstroke 18th place time: 1.16.26 (previous time 1.04.62) Connor Freestyle 35th time: 1.03.10 (previous time 1.02.19) Connor Breaststroke 21st time: 1.30.38 (previous time 1.18.26) Carly's Championships were on July 11th, Grandpa came...
