Disneyland

Image
I was surprised at how close Candy Cane Hotel is to Disneyland. Radiator Springs was right behind our room. PF Changs was a short walk from our hotel and was my favorite restaurant from the entire trip. They seated us outside and their hot mango tea was the best tea I had ever tasted. Small birds were landing on the back of our chairs. I ordered 2 platters of sushi that were delicious. Our waitress was very attentive. Carly even ordered chocolate milk because that is what Kaia ordered, which she is allergic to. The waitress changed it right away. I also ended up dumping tea all over the table. We let the kids swim for the rest of the time and they crashed out fast in the hotel. The fireworks were very close and loud from our room. Connor made a comment, "How do they afford all of those fireworks?" which made us laugh. The breakfast at the hotel was very good with lots of donuts, which Connor loved, and yogurt with granola. We took a shuttle to Disneyland and saw a lady ...

Lola's Cow Encounter

Out on a trail run with Lola when we come face to face with a huge herd of cows with no room to pass. I guess they just wanted to touch noses with Lola. https://youtu.be/X0bTRgNl9v8 https://youtu.be/BDPgs-TQLPY

End of Spring 2016 soccer season

Image
The girls are finishing their 6 th soccer season this year. This was a crazy weather season for soccer with so many practices getting cancelled and games getting moved. Every time a game or practice got cancelled, the girls would ask me if I could take them out to play, anyway. They would go out and play soccer every day if they could! Carly's team won every game, except for 1. She scored at least 1 goal in every game. She had a good system going with a boy on her team. He would play defense and pass the ball up her and she would dribble the ball into the goal. There was one game where her team scored 10 goals and she scored 8 of the goals. She was pretty proud of herself. I love coaching her team, but I get frustrated because some parents expect me to babysit their 6 year old. Some of the 6 year olds mess around and don't listen to me. Carly loves that I am her coach but she sometimes tries to correct me in my calls and coaching. Camilla's team lost every game, ...

Carly's Kindergarten Graduation and Field Day

Image
We have seen Carly learn and grow so much this year. She started out the year not even recognizing her letters and now she is reading chapter books. I gave her an incentive of getting a hot lunch at school if she came home with 2 "Blues" (outstanding behavior) per week. She consistently came home with 2-3 blues every week. She has went to almost every Birthday party in her class because she is friends with everyone. She absolutely loved her teacher this year, who was also Connor's teacher last year. Her field day included racing games outside, an obstacle course, hoola hoops, balloon games, and lots of fun snacks. She had her graduation ceremony and sang so many cute songs. The night ended with cake and dinner with Grandma, Great Grandma, and Grandpa. Hoola Hoop Video: https://youtu.be/iF8gmJq_6Ek Summer Night Song: https://youtu.be/ZT_fZZiACes

Colorado Rockies Home Run for the Homeless 5k

Image
Running a 5k at this time was not in my plan. I have been focusing on long runs with no focus on short bursts of speed. My kids had found out that there was going to be a 5k at our neighborhood park on May 1 st and I signed them up. A 5k was in their plan and they started training. They ran laps around the neighborhood, the park, the Rock, and with the doggies. A week before the race, we found out that it was cancelled. When I told them, they said, "We have been practicing for nothing?" I heard an advertisement on the radio for "Colorado Rockies Home Run for the Homeless 5k" It sounded perfect! Everyone gets to run around Coors field, gets Rockies tickets and shirts, hot dogs, raises money for the homeless, and 5,000 people were expected at the event. I registered for this one to replace the cancelled race. I was a little divided on whether I should run with the kids or try to win the race. I decided to let them run on their own, since they all run at differe...
