Tianjin

We took a bullet train to Tianjin. I reserved a hotel in Tianjin and had no idea that it was 2 hours from the train station in Tianjin. It cost us an $80 taxi ride to get to our hotel. Our hotel was nice but was on the northern part of Tianjin. We really wanted to see the Central Park of Tianjin with a giant Ferris wheel and ancient buildings and shops. It cost us another $40 to get to central Tianjin from our hotel. We had a lot of fun on Nanshi food street, The Tietsin Eye, and ancient cultural street. Tianjin Eye, also called "The Tientsin Eye" is electrically powered and has 48 passenger capsules, each able to carry 8 passengers, and takes 30 minutes to complete a rotation, giving a maximum capacity of 768 passengers per hour. It is a 120-metre (394 ft) tall giant Ferris wheel built above the Yongle Bridge (formerly Chihai Bridge), over the Hai River in Tianjin , China. We saw a Chinese man trying to catch birds to eat and many people selling fish on the street. ...

Xi'an

Our first trip out of Beijing was to Xi'an. Xi'an is a 4 ½ hour bullet train ride from Beijing. Xi'an was highly recommended from my coworkers. Roujiamo is the city's favorite burger (Carly loved this) A delicious roujiamo is composed of two key elements – juicy shredded braised pork and a crispy baked bread. Rice noodles are cooked, cooled and thinly sliced. The noodles are often served in a sauce made of chili oil, pepper powder, vinegar and diced garlic (my favorite) Then it's garnished with bean sprouts and...

Carly and I ate a yummy breakfast in Soho (western food) Soho is beautiful at night with all of the asymmetrical skyscrapers. It was designed in 2014 as a three-tower project. They have multiple businesses and restaurants and a pretty light show at night. We also went to a Japanese tea shop in Soho. Carly got blue tea. For my Birthday, we went to Shichahai park for dinner. We had a private Chinese singer and it cost us about $40 for dinner. is a historic scenic area consisting of three lakes in the north of central Beijing . They are located to the north-west of the Forbidden City and north of the Beihai Lake . Shichahai consists of the following three lakes: Qianhai, Xihai and Houhai . In imperial times it was called the Riverbank. Carly took an art class at an art studio attached to our apartment. She has taken 2 classes there and cannot wait to go back. Carly completed her 2nd soccer tournament at British International School in Shunyi. Her team got 2nd place and I go...
