Spring Break 2016

I got really excited about Spring Break this year because I enjoy doing cool things with my kids. The first thing we did was go to the Children's Museum. The kids spent almost their entire time in the art studio, making ceramic bowls, painting, and using stencils. I got involved and did some art too.

The next thing we did was going to a special screening of Aladdin at the Wildlife Experience. This was something that I got really excited about because it was one of my favorite Disney movies as a kid. They had some really cool activities before the movie like sword fighting, art, and mask making.

We had one warm day during spring break so I decided to take a big chance and see if all of the kids could climb up the Manitou Incline. I was pretty sure that they could do it, but I was afraid that they would complain the whole time. It is not an easy hike and there are 2,744 steps uphill. I showed them a video and asked them if they wanted to go and they were very excited. Connor complained a little in the beginning, but then took off and went really fast. Carly played a game where she was a little engine and I had to give her gas(water) and then she would run up the stairs really fast. Camilla was the biggest rockstar of all and went so fast that she had to stop and wait for us because she was so far ahead. We stopped at the Colorado Springs Olympic training center afterwards. We got to see the Wrestling room, Weight room, and the Olympic pool. The best part was when we got to see the male gymnasts perform a routine!

We had a big snowstorm that brought down 17 inches of heavy wet snow. Our garage wouldn't even open until we shoveled it. Thankfully, we have 5 shovels and we all contributed to removing the snow. The kids built snowmen and I took them sledding.

When the snow melted off of the sidewalk, we went for a trip down the Cherry Creek trail. The kids biked while I ran behind them. The trail looked beautiful with all the snow around us.

The day before Easter, we took the light rail downtown to the Art Museum and Hard Rock Café. This was the kids first time going to both places. They loved the huge art studio in the Art Museum where they could use pastels, pencils, and paint. They loved the guitar plates and the cool videos that were playing on the big screen at the Hard Rock Cafe. They also loved having the light rail to themselves on the way back so that they could run around the train.

Easter was a lot of fun and I was so happy that all of the cousins got along and played well together. My Mom had a nice brunch at her house and all of the kids received little Easter hats with goodies inside them. My kids really enjoyed the little pots of grass that they could grow on their own and the eggs that hatched into cute little toys.
