Mt Elbert View Lodge
I have the best Mom, who has always celebrated my accomplishments. I did not expect any big celebration for getting my Master's degree since i am now 37 years old. But, my Mom asked me what I would like to do. I suggested that we get the family together to travel to a cabin for Thanksgiving. I really wanted to go to Leadville, CO. I had heard that the town of only 2,600 people was really neat to see. Leadville is also surrounded by many 14ers, one of which the kids and I climbed last summer, Mt. Sherman. Connor had also learned about Leadville in Social Studies, since it was a huge mining town.

The cabin was even bigger than I had imagined. We all had plenty of room to spread out.

We were just 30 minutes from Turquoise Lake, which had the most beautifully clear water.
We drove all the way around this lake. The road was mostly covered with snow and we saw runners and cross country skiers playing on it.
Grandpa brought a big puzzle and the family helped put it together. Thankfully, there were no missing pieces.

There was a beautiful fireplace that the family wanted to sit by. It was pretty darn cold in the cabin. We used lots of blankets and kept the fire going.
i was able to get out to do a couple runs at 9,500 ft elevation.
We were very close to Mount Massive, Mount Elbert, Mt of the Holy Cross, and Mt La Plata.

The girls loved taking baths every day in the jacuzzi tub.
Carly and Kaia had fun playing games together.

This was one of the most stress free holidays I have had. We got to eat and relax for a few days.

I would love to be able to come up to a secluded cabin in the woods more often. It is good for the soul and a great way to spend time with family.
