This is the 3rd time we have camped at this place. The kids always ask me to take them back. The first thing Lola did was go crazy running in the sand. She loves the sand!

This time, we almost didn't go. The kids were still tired from Leadville and they weren't sure they wanted to go. They decided they wanted to go the morning we were scheduled to leave. The campground, overall is not great. Kinda ugly sights with lots of partiers.

But, I found a cool backcountry sight that is situated among very shady tees. It is only 400 yards from the car and a little further from bathrooms. I could hang multiple hammocks in the site.

Camilla is my interior designer. She decides where to put tents, chairs, and hammocks. It was insanely hot when we got there and I was putting up tents. 98 degrees.

Thank goddess for shade and water. You can jump in that cold water from our site. Everyone swims in it. Waterskiers, jetskies, kayaks, rafters. The water is far warmer than other lakes too. Not so shocking to the system.

Connor and Carly took a huge interest in helping light fires. I figured they were ready. I let Connor light the propane and candles and Camilla start our fire in the pit. I woke up and Connor had already lit a candle. I got real mad and told him he doesn't touch those matches without my permission. 10 minutes per kid on hammocks.

I definitely destress at this place. I don't drive at all because there is a little store with ice and firewood within walking distance. The only thing I forgot was marshmallows and the kids didn't care.

A little boy came and asked if I could show him how to cast a fishing pole. I realized it had been 15-20 years since I fished but things are not much different. Connor fell a few times on his bike because there is so much sand.

I got some good open water swimming in while I was there. It is so much easier to camp near open water, rather than drive out each day. On our last day, Carly played with a 7 year old boy on the campsite next to us. Camilla did open water swimming with me. Connor played with Lola on the rocks. It was a fun trip, but we were all ready to get back to the comforts of home.
