Ragnar Frisco August 25, 2017

We ran 188 miles and it took us 30 hours to complete it. Van 1 started at 7:30am on August 25th and we ended at 3pm on August 27th. We started at Copper Mountain Resort and finished in Snowmass. We finished 19th place out of 65 teams.

I have been asked by friends to do this many times. But, I have always declined because I just don't run well with no sleep. This time, I said yes because my friends were in a bind and needed one extra person to run for them. After I agreed, they put me as anchor to run them into the finish line. I am so glad I did!

We drove up to Breckenridge and went our to eat at a bar before heading to the cabin.

We drove up to a cabin on Thursday night and stayed in a cabin in Breckenridge. Everyone that I stayed with were so laid back and kept me laughing the entire time.

We existed on cat-naps, Muscle milk, coffee, and lots of water. We ran through the day and night. My runs were at 7pm, 3am, and 1pm. We had lots of stinky bodies crammed into our vans. I was the only female in my van, which made changing my clothes pretty difficult.

Fortunately, I was so tired that I was able to sleep in very cramped positions. Not everyone else was that fortunate.

I used my creativity to decorate our van. Susan was our driver.

We looked like crossing guards when running through the night, so we wouldn't get hit by a car. Safety first!

I ran very fast on my runs. I felt the peer pressure and I was just having so much fun.

I got to know my friends very well on this trip. We opened up to each other about many things.

The sights were gorgeous! My favorite part was running into Glenwood Springs. That was my run in the middle of the night and it was so beautiful.

We did thankfully get some massage legs to use between runs.

The guys in my van were pretty interesting. From left to right, there was Evan (total goofball who kept us all laughing), Mike (pretty wealthy guy who was a gentlemen and always making sure we were all feeling okay, Bart (triathlete who is very quiet and has shaved legs), Andrew (nutritionalist who cares a lot about his figure and his water intake), and Jeff (bike rider who runs occasionally).

We would stand on the side of the road and cheer our friends on and then switch off to the next runner. This photo was at Vail pass.

Some people chose to roll out sleeping bags and sleep outside.

I flew fast on this leg! I ran past 3 people at a 7:02/mile pace. We ate dinner afterwards and I slept for 2 hours in the van. The team joked that I was going so fast that it was a blur.

This was my favorite leg because I got to run through Glenwood Canyon into the city. I passed 3 people but got passed by 1 really tall cross country kid. It was so fun, running into Glenwood Springs. After this, we parked at Basalt High School. I slept for 3 hours in the van seat. There were lots of people sleeping in the grass but I thought it was too cold.

This was hard! I had to climb 2000 feet and then run back down fast. I ran past 10 people and this is why I fell. I was so focused on the runner in front of me that I tripped over a rock and fell face first.

I got so many laughs and funny looks when I crossed the finish line. My team was so surprised that I just kept running. My body gets numb when running, so it is pretty easy to just keep going. At least I didn't need stitches.
